Staff at Journey Health Solutions are NDIS Specialist in Melbourne providing services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). In fact all the services we currently provide are covered by the NDIS, meaning they can be provided at no cost to you. The NDIS provides funds to individuals with a disability to access supports and services that are considered reasonable and necessary to help them achieve specific goals. If you have an impairment or lifelong condition whether it be physical, cognitive or mental health related you may be able to use the NDIS to access the support you need. To help you understand the NDIS provider in Victoria and how it can benefit you, have a read of the information provided below. You can also learn a lot about the NDIS by watching the video.

What is the NDIS?

The NDIS is a new Government Initiative that gives people with disability greater choice and control over the supports they need. It was designed to allow people with disability greater access to support services so that they can maintain their independence and be empowered to do things for themselves. But don’t worry, you will have a dedicated Support Co-ordinator who will help you to select the right services, find the right help and allocate funds accordingly.

Am I eligible?

The NDIS is available to people who have a permanent impairment or condition and meet the following requirements:

  •  You are under the age of 65
  • You are an Australian citizen, permanent resident or a New Zealand Citizen who holds a Protected Special Category Visa
  • You need support from a person or equipment manage everyday life and activities

If you are eligible, funds will be provided for services that are considered reasonable and necessary. You can use the NDIS Access Checklist to see if you might be eligible for services.

Applying for NDIS support

The first step to applying for NDIS support is to contact the NDIS service on 1800 800 110 and make a ‘Reguest for Access’. Along with questions about your identity, residency and eligibility, you will be required to provide written evidence of your disability from registered health professionals.

If you need support to apply for the NDIS you can contact a Local Area Co-Ordinator (LAC) who will walk you through the process and assist you to get together to information you need to complete your application. Find your local LAC.

Once you are approved, you may require a support co-ordinator to assist you to find the services you need and allocate your NDIS funds accordingly. The NDIS will provide you with funds to cover this service if it is required.

Staff at Journey Health Solutions will work closely with your Support Co-ordinator to ensure the right services are being provided for your needs and to review your progress. You can use a JHS Support Co-ordinator or alternatively click this link to Find a support co-ordinator in your area.
